Studying: Georgia builds an AI agenda for 2027
Georgia has four adopted AI-related resolutions on the books — Senate study committees on artificial intelligence (SR 391, adopted April 2, 2025; SR 789, March 31, 2026), a committee on social media, AI, and children's platform privacy (SR 431, April 2, 2025), and a House resolution on election deepfakes (HR 43, June 22, 2026). Study committees are where next session's bills get written: expect Georgia to arrive in January 2027 with drafted AI legislation on children's privacy and election integrity.
Signed: New Jersey moves against algorithmic rent-setting
New Jersey A 3497, the Forbidding the Algorithmic Inflation of Rent (FAIR) Act, passed both chambers and was approved by the governor on July 20 as P.L.2026, c.43. Its Senate twin (S 451) was withdrawn — the Assembly version was the live vehicle. New Jersey joins the small group of states restricting algorithmic rent-pricing tools, a direct legislative response to the RealPage litigation wave.
Introduced: Congress turns to agricultural AI
The FARM AI Act of 2026 (HR 9686) was introduced July 14 and referred to committee — the first dedicated agricultural-AI bill of this Congress. Also moving: Louisiana HR 249, requesting that the state's education board incorporate AI standards into student curricula, passed both chambers May 28.
