Automated license plate recognition systems.

The bill tightens how California agencies can use and keep data from automated license‑plate readers. It limits sharing to law‑enforcement investigations or missing‑person searches, requires deletion of data older than 30 days, and adds security and audit rules. Transportation, transit and airport operators are excluded from many of these requirements.

Democratic control of both chambers and the bill's progress to a third reading boost its odds, but strong law‑enforcement opposition to restricting ALPR use lowers the likelihood of passage.
